How to sell used servers and networking equipment in India
When an office shifts, a data centre is decommissioned or a refresh cycle ends, servers, switches, routers, firewalls and storage are left behind. Resellers and refurbishers buy this equipment, but only if the listing tells them exactly what it is and that it has been cleared of data and configuration.

Short answer
To sell used servers and networking equipment in India, list each item by make, model, part number, quantity and condition, say whether it powers on and passes basic tests, clear all data and configuration, keep the purchase invoice, and offer it to IT resellers, refurbishers and dealers who handle enterprise equipment. Equipment that is out of support or not worth reselling goes to an authorised e-waste recycler.
What sells
- Rack and tower servers and their CPUs, memory and drives
- Network switches, routers, firewalls and wireless controllers
- Storage arrays, tape libraries and NAS units
- Server racks, KVMs and power distribution units
- UPS units and batteries (check condition and age)
- Structured cabling, patch panels and fibre equipment
Who buys it
- Enterprise IT resellers and refurbishers
- Small and mid-size businesses that cannot afford new equipment
- Managed-service providers and system integrators
- Colleges and labs
- Spare-parts dealers, for parts from machines that no longer boot
- Authorised e-waste recyclers, for equipment with no resale value
Before you list
- Record make, model, serial range, configuration and year
- Test: powers on, boots, ports work, fans and power supplies healthy
- Remove all data, licences, passwords and configuration; reset to factory settings
- Remove asset tags that identify your company if you do not want them seen
- Note any missing parts, rails or power cables
- Keep the invoice and warranty papers
Listing details buyers look for
- Exact model and part number
- Quantity, and whether the items are identical
- Working status and what was tested
- Support status: vendor support ended or not
- Location, and who arranges rigging, packing and transport
Decommissioning a data centre or office
If you are shutting down a whole room, read the guide on data centre relocation and decommissioned equipment. Sell the working items as separate lots by type, and send the rest to an authorised recycler.
How ClearLot helps
Listing IT hardware or software licences on ClearLot is free and puts them in front of bulk buyers by category. ClearLot is a free-to-list stock board in India. Our team checks every lot before it goes on the board, and the seller's name, business name and phone number are not shown to visitors. When a buyer is interested, we speak to them first and then connect the two. ClearLot does not buy, hold, wipe or transport anything and is not a party to the deal: price, payment and dispatch are agreed between seller and buyer.
