E-waste recyclers in India: how to sell or hand over e-waste
Old computers, servers, printers, phones, UPS units and cables are e-waste once they cannot be used or resold. In India, e-waste should be given to an authorised recycler or dismantler, not to an unregistered scrap dealer. Items that still work often have resale value and should be sold first.

Short answer
Sort your equipment into working and non-working. Sell working equipment to refurbishers and resellers. Hand non-working equipment to a recycler or dismantler that holds a valid registration or authorisation under the E-Waste (Management) Rules, and keep the paperwork. Wipe data from anything that stored it before it leaves.
Working or not working
- Working and recent: sell to refurbishers, resellers and traders as a lot
- Working but old: usually still sells, at a low price, for parts or reuse
- Not working: recycler or dismantler, usually priced by weight or by item type
What to check before handing over
- The recycler's valid registration or authorisation, and that it covers your type of equipment
- A written record of what was collected, counts or weights, and the date
- A receipt or certificate from the recycler for your records
- Data removal: wipe or destroy drives that held company or customer data
How e-waste is usually priced
Mixed e-waste is often bought by weight. Equipment with precious metals, such as boards, servers and some batteries, is priced higher than plastic housings or cables. A clean, sorted lot gets a better rate than a mixed pile.
A note on the rules
Rules change and differ by state. Check the current rule and the buyer's valid authorisation or registration yourself before you hand anything over. This page is general information, not legal advice.
How ClearLot helps
If you hold surplus electronics or e-waste, you can list it on ClearLot as a lot so recyclers and refurbishers can find it. ClearLot is a free-to-list stock board in India. Our team checks every lot before it goes on the board, and your name, business name and phone number are not shown to visitors. When a buyer is interested, we speak to them first and then connect you. ClearLot does not buy, hold, move, store or recycle anything, and it is not a party to the deal: price, payment and dispatch are agreed between you and the buyer.
Frequently asked questions
How do I sell e-waste in bulk in India?
Sort working from non-working equipment, count or weigh it, and offer it to refurbishers (working items) or authorised recyclers and dismantlers (non-working items). Keep a record and a receipt.
Who is allowed to take e-waste?
E-waste should go to a recycler or dismantler with a valid registration or authorisation under the E-Waste (Management) Rules. Ask to see it and check that it covers your equipment before handing anything over.
Should I wipe data before giving away old computers?
Yes. Wipe or physically destroy drives and storage that held company or customer data before the equipment leaves your control.
Does ClearLot recycle e-waste?
No. ClearLot is a stock board that introduces sellers and buyers. It does not collect, recycle or transport e-waste.
